Over 500 Shipping magnates and Maritime experts from all over the world assembled at the weekend in London, to informally brain storm, and chart the way forward, for a brighter and a more vibrant maritime industry.
From the former International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary General IMO, Mr Mitropoulos, the current IMO Secretary General, Mr K. Lim, IMO chieftain, Mr Georges to the Arrowhead of the Ship Owners Association of Nigeria (SOAN), Engr Greg Ogbeifun.
Ironically, Ogbeifun who was the only Nigerian in attendance had only a few hours earlier in Abuja, delivered a vital paper towards a successful adoption of New trade terms, aimed at truncating the Free On Board (FOB) lifting of crude oil, in favour of the Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF) regime; and the empowering of Nigerian stakeholders in crude lifting.
